MassCann has learned that Chairpersons Fargo and Sanchez of the Joint Committee on Public Health are likely the primary reason the Committee has not acted favorably on H. 2160 since the hearing on May 19, 2009.

Susan C. Fargo represents the Third Middlesex Senate District (Waltham, Bedford, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Concord, Lexington, precincts 3, 8 and 9, Lincoln, Sudbury, precincts 1 and 4, and Weston).  She is the Senate Chair.

Jeffrey Sanchez represents the Fifteenth Suffolk House District (precinct 5 of the town of Brookline, and precincts 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 of ward 10 (Mission Hill/JP), precinct 6 of ward 11 (Roxbury), precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 9 of ward 19 (JP), and precincts 1, 2 and 4 of ward 20 (W. Roxbury), of the city of Boston, in the county of Suffolk. He is the House Chair.

On September 23, Suffolk University7News released poll results revealing that 81% of Bay State residents support  medicinal marijuana if prescribed/overseen by a physician (no surprise to us).

Susan Fargo probably read “Epstein and Saunders: Legalize medicinal marijuana use” in the Daily News Tribune on September 13.  What she probably hasn’t read is follow-up letters to the editor of that paper, and letters and e-mails sent to her and about phone calls to her office.

If you live in her district , please DO IT!   To edit and send a pre-drafted letter click here.

As for Jeffrey Sanchez, he probably hasn’t read the essay and hasn’t gotten enough letters, e-mails and phone calls.  If you live in his district, JUST DO IT! To edit and send a pre-drafted letter click here.

We are not certain why the Joint Committee on the Judiciary has been sitting on S. 1739 since the hearing July 14, 2009.

Cynthia Stone Creem represents the First Middlesex and Norfolk Senate District  (Newton, Brookline and Wellesley, precincts A and C to E, inclusive. She is the Senate Chair.
elo1 Eugene L. O’Flaherty represents the Second Suffolk House District Ward 2 (Charlestown neighborhood of the city of Boston, and all precincts of wards 1 and 2, precincts 1 and 3 of ward 3, and precincts 1 and 4 of ward 4, of the city of Chelsea.  He is the House Chair.

As coincidence would have it, Cynthia Stone Creem probably read “Epstein and Saunders: Legalize medicinal marijuana use” in the Daily News Tribune or the Metrowest Daily News on September 13.  What she probably hasn’t read is follow-up letters to the editor of that paper, and letters and e-mails sent to her and about phone calls to her office.
