Should Massachusetts allow residents to grow and smoke marijuana for medicinal reasons?

A binding initiative that is being targeted for the November ballot would call for no penalties for qualifying patients, physicians and health care professionals, personal caregivers for patients, or medical marijuana treatment center agents for the medical use of marijuana, according to a Patch article on ballot initiatives.

Initiative supporters say that for many patients suffering from diseases including cancer and multiple sceloris marijuana relieves symptoms of the diseases.
