Poll shows support for medicinal marijuana

Massachusetts voters favor allowing terminally ill patients to request and self-administer lethal doses of medication by large margins, according to a mid-August poll released by Public Policy Polling.

Ballot Question 2 allowing for life-ending prescriptions for certain patients was favored by a margin of 58 percent to 24 percent, and Question 3 to allow for medical marijuana was favored 58 percent to 27 percent. Both questions found greater support from those who had voted for Barack Obama in 2008, though past John McCain voters favored Question 2 by a 48 to 33 percent margin and medical marijuana by a 44 to 42 percent margin, which is within the poll’s 2.9 percent margin of error.
