Industrial hemp will be going to college under an amendment to the Farm Bill which was recently passed by Congress and is expected to be signed into law soon. The amendment does not directly legalize industrial hemp farming, but it does allow for research on industrial hemp by universities and state agriculture departments in the 10 states that have approved hemp production. For now they will be the only entities allowed to grow hemp legally. Actual industrial hemp production will still have to wait while the body politic absorbs the shock of this modest trial program.
